Mary Waller earned her undergraduate degree in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Oklahoma, her Master’s degree in Management Science from the University of Colorado at Denver and her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the University of Texas at Austin. She worked as an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin (Madison) and the University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign), and as an associate professor at Tulane University (New Orleans) before joining the Department of Organization & Strategy at Maastricht University. Before beginning her graduate studies, she held various professional positions in petroleum, aviation, and software development organizations. Her research focuses on team dynamics during time-pressured, complex, and unexpected situations, and includes studies of aviation flight crews and nuclear power plant control room crews. She is a past Chair of the Managerial and Organizational Cognition Division of the Academy of Management, and she serves on the editorial review boards of the Academy of Management Review and Organization Science journals.

PhD: University of Texas at Austin, 1995. Title of dissertation: Multitasking in Work Groups. Supervisors: Prof. dr. Janet Dukerich and Prof. dr. Robert Helmreich.
