Mariëlle G. Heijltjes is professor of Managerial Behaviour
and holds the positions of Associate Dean and Director of
Postgraduate Education of Maastricht University School of Business
and Economics.
Her professional interest evolves around questions that relate to
the functioning of (top) managers and (top) management teams. An
interest that started during her dissertation research but that
further developed in her own experiences with managers, management
and governance. She was co-founder and director of the first
Executive MBA program that Maastricht University founded together
with Haus der Technik (1998-2000) and a member of the Faculty Board
where as associate dean she was responsible for all the educational
programs of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of
Maastricht University (2001-2004). In addition to an academic
interest in managerial behaviour, she enjoys working on these themes
together with companies and consultants. The interaction between
science and practice is an important source of inspiration for her
in the development of new education and research programs.
Although holding a Master (1990) and PhD (1995) in
Economics and Business Administration from Maastricht University,
Mariëlle enjoys studying issues of managerial behaviour in an
international context. Her most recent international affiliation was
during the Spring of 2005 when she was associated with Auckland
University of Technology in New Zealand as a visiting professor. She
lived in Auckland for half a year together with her husband Michiel
and her two sons Floris (1999) and Pepijn (2001).
