Master IB Entrepreneurship & SME Management

The Master in Entrepreneurship and SME management offers you the possibility to create or enhance your entrepreneurial/SME leadership and management competences. The program is unique because of its "hands-on approach" in addition to your knowledge development on entrepreneurship and SME management, you will get the opportunity to either set up a student company with a team of students, or to join the management team (MT) of a small or medium-sized enterprise. Whether you opt for the student company or the participation in a management team of an SME, either option develops your opportunity recognition and managerial competences. Moreover, the teamwork enhances your communication and leadership skills.

Cooperation between the four Business Departments of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) at Maastricht University guarantees a multidisciplinary perspective on entrepreneurship and SME management. The Problem-Based Learning approach stimulates you to actively participate in the knowledge gathering process. By working on cases and projects, and attending guest lectures, you will acquire application to business practice.

This program has added value for students aspiring to establish their own company or aiming to join the management team of a small or medium-sized (family) business. It also enables students to start a research career (PhD) into the increasingly important and popular field of research into the scientific fields of entrepreneurship and small business. In addition, the interdisciplinary and practical knowledge developed within this programme benefits those students aiming to become an SME advisor or consultant.

The MSc IB Entrepreneurship and SME Management:

• enhances interdisciplinary knowledge development on entrepreneurship and SME management (the learning part);.
• offers a first step into business practice through either abovementioned student company or MT membership (the hands-on part).
• This innovative one-year full-time program is taught in English and starts twice a year (in September and February).
