Dr. Marc van Wegberg

Marc van Wegberg
I studied economics at the University of Tilburg from 1976 to 1983. Subsequently, I spent about a year doing research on dynamic competition at the Tilburg Institute for Academic Studies (TIAS, it is now an education-only institute). I wrote my doctoral thesis at the University of Maastricht on multi-market competition. My thesis focused on reciprocal entry between multiple markets, and on the effects that blurring market boundaries (convergence) have on competition. My promotors were Prof. Hans Maks and Prof. Arjen van Witteloostuijn. I served as PhD student ('AIO', in Dutch) to the micro-economics group in the period 1987 to 1992. Since 1992 I am assistant professor at the University of Maastricht, at the department of Organization and Strategy. On a more personal note, I was born in 1957, and my hobbies are literature, watching TV, movies, and cycling. In 2000 I won the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration education award, together with my colleagues Erik de Regt and Piet Keizer.
