Title: Knowledge-Belief Space Approach to Robust Implementation
Abstract: In this paper, we extend the notion of the universal type space (Mertens and Zamir, 1985) by explicitly considering what the agents know a la Aumann's knowledge-belief spaces (Aumann, 1999) in order to generalize the existing results in robust implementation (Bergemann and Morris, 2011). Our finding is that robust implementation is equivalent to Bayesian implementation on this extended particular belief structure. This result makes it possible to directly apply the existing Bayesian implementation literature, such as Jackson (1991), to obtain a characterization result of robust implementation in a more general class of environments.
