The
NSI
focuses on social and organizational innovations to improve the
development and use of talent and know-how and ultimately firm performance.
NSI
believes that this can only be achieved if science, business and social
organizations join forces. By focusing research on issues that firms and other
organizations face in real life, and by studying these issues with a scientific
approach, we will be able to gather knowledge about social innovation processes
that are of direct importance to the economy.

NSI call for proposals
NSI invites research proposal submissions that qualify for co-financing if they
contribute to NSI’s mission, and meet NSI criteria.
The NSI focuses on social and organizational innovations to improve the
development and use of talent and know-how and ultimately firm performance. NSI
believes that this can only be achieved if science, business and social
organizations join forces. By focusing research on issues that firms and other
organizations face in real life, and by studying these issues with a scientific
approach, we will be able to gather knowledge about social innovation processes
that are of direct importance to the economy.
NSI has set up three related research programmes.
- Education and Society (coordinator: Prof. Dr. Lex Borghans)
- Human Resource Development (coordinator: Prof. Dr. Andries de Grip)
- Dynamics of the Firm (coordinator: Prof. Dr. Geert Duysters)
We invite you to submit research projects for co-financing by NSI in the context
of the three themes mentioned above.
We welcome proposals to cofinance the cost of:
- project-related personnel costs (for example a PhD candidate or postdoctoral
student);
- project-related materials, travel and equipment.
NSI will cover up to 50% of the project related personnel cost, and 50% of the
project related travel costs (maximum 2,500 Euro). Personnel and travel costs
are included in a lump-sum annual budget for a postdoc of 60,000 Euro, for a PhD
45,000 Euro. In addition, project leaders can apply for additional funds to
cover up to 50% of the data collection costs (maximum 10.000 Euro). The relevant
department will fund the remainder. NSI will particularly encourage research
projects with external co-funding.
The project proposals can be submitted by means of a brief description of the
project (see Format for proposals NSI). The board of NSI will invite the
applicants to further explain the project in a meeting with two members of the
NSI Board. The project proposals must be submitted by e-mail to NSI’s
secretariat secnsi@maastrichtuniversity.nl at Ferbruary 1, 2010 at the latest.
For any further questions, please contact either myself or one of the other
programme coordinators.
Kind regards,
Prof. dr. Andries de Grip
